History of Manlove Pratt and his descendants

Copied from a record written by S.Y. Simmons, Esq. and partly taken from Pratt family bible by A.S. Hutter, March 18, 1896. "Manlove Pratt came to his death by shouldering a log, in the town of Moorefield, WV in front of Dr. M.D. Williams office (near Jim Mullins Hatter Shop, believed to be located where the McNeill Hotel is now). Just as he got it off of his shoulder a man touched it and he fell and the log hit the side of his head. He lived but a few moments. He lived but a short distance east of the residence of Hiriam Kuykendall. Who married Mary Catherine Pratt. However, according to information - Manlove die in 1821, and Hiram was not born until 1844, unless year of death is incorrect. Census records show Manlove Pratt with seven family members. He is not shown on any subsequent records. Records were taken from the Pratt family bible by A. G. Hutter in March 18, 1896. Charles Shaw's record was sent to him by Pamela Kathryn (Tomes) Rumer whose is married to Michael Alan Rumer. He is he great grandson of Ann Elizabeth Pratt. She is the sister of Florence Rebecca Pratt. Florence married James William Shaw. Pratt family book lists three brothers who came from Germany: Manlove, Isaac and Enoch. (This information been disputed from family members who said the family was English) Manlove died when a black oak timber log he was shouldering fell on him and killed him in front of Dr. Williams' office in Moorefield. Just as he got it on his shoulder, a man touched it and he fell and the side of his head. He lived but a few moments. He is buried in Snodgrass Cemetery, Kessell, WV
